Resurrection Authority
The account of the temptations of Jesus by Satan contains a claim by him to having all authority which Jesus did not deny.
And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. (Luke 4:6 NKJV)
The Greek word that is translated authority is exousias. It is a word that combines the two ideas of right and might. A law enforcement person may have the right to make an arrest but lack the power (might) to do so.
The Resurrection witnessed the greatest transfer of power in all of creation.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority [exousias] has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (Matthew 28:18 NKJV)
The authority that was “delivered” to Satan was completely transferred to Christ. And now what was transferred to Christ He has transmitted to His followers.
Behold, I give you the authority [exousias] to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19 NKJV)
Resurrection authority carries with it the right and the might to overpower the enemy from whom they were stripped. It behooves God’s educators to exercise that authority on behalf of the children entrusted to their care.
