Beauty Baldwin

Beauty Baldwin was the first African American woman to be the superintendent of a school district in Georgia. She was the founding director of Hopewell Christian Academy and led the opening of North Metro Academy of Performing Arts. Beauty was recently honored by the Gwinnett County School Board with a new elementary school named in her honor.

Patrick Ennis

Patrick Ennis holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of Georgia. He taught two years at Clarke Middle School in Athens, Georgia as an autism specialist. Patrick started Downtown Academy, a gospel-centered and scholarship-based elementary school serving academically disenfranchised, culturally diverse, and economically disadvantaged children in Athens in 2013. Now in its 4th year, Downtown Academy serves 64 children in grades K-4 and has given away over $970,000 in scholarships.

Sandra Figueroa-Torres

Sandra Figueroa-Torres has more than 30 years of service working in urban schools in The Bronx, NY and Bethlehem/Allentown Pa.  She has Served as a Parent Liaison, Teacher, ESL Coordinator, Principal of public schools and a Christian urban school.  Second Latina principal in the 4th largest school district in Pa.  Presently is the Founder and CEO of a successful public charter school, Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School in Allentown, PA.

Cynthia Gant

Cynthia Gant has Bachelors and Master’s degree Religious Education and has served as principal of two Christian schools. Cynthia Is currently an education consultant with the Association of Christian Schools International. Cynthia developed and led a scholarship granting organization for economically disadvantaged children to be able to attend faith-based schools.

Vernard Gant

CHAIR

Vernard Gant holds a Doctorate of Ministry Degree with an Urban Concentration. Dr. Gant is currently the director of the A.C.E. Student Success Center with the Association of Christian Schools International. Vernard been instrumental in assisting with the start-up of several schools throughout the nation. He has over 40 years of education reform and parental choice in education experience.

Robin Horn

TREASURER

Robin Hom has a BA, UC Berkeley; JD, University of the Pacific; MA.Ed, Biola University. He served on ACSI’s National Board, Regional Accreditation Commission, and Urban Schools Advisory Council. Recognized as Biola University’s Education Alumni of the Year in 2009, he has been serving for 28 years as the head administrator of California Crosspoint Academy, a two-time National Blue Ribbon school with an international reputation and impact, with five partner programs in China.

Justina Jenkins

Justina Jenkins is an instructor in the School of Education at Georgia College & State University. Dr. Jenkins was the founder and director of New Life Academy of Achievers which was a private Christian school incorporating project based learning at all grade levels K-8. Justina earned a full scholarship to Spelman College where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Economics. Justina obtained Masters of Education and a Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction from Mercer University. After 34 years of service, she now volunteers her time as an educational advocate and provides support to students, families and educators.

Yvonne Jones

Yvonne Jones holds bachelor’s in Liberal Arts and serves as the assistant director of the A.C.E. Student Success Center with the Association of Christian Schools International.  For over twenty plus years Yvonne has tutored, been a substitute teacher and mentored various children at different stages and levels in life.

Jenny Lee

Jenny Lee is Academics Director and Chief Financial Officer of California Crosspoint Academy in the San Francisco East Bay Area. She has overseen the school’s curriculum development, professional training, and classroom instruction for over 20 years.  She has a Bachelor’s in Business from CSU East Bay and a Master’s in Education from the University of Colorado. Her TESL/TEFL certification as well as experience serving on WASC/ACSI accreditation teams has helped as she regularly consults with and advises schools on curriculum and instruction.

Genice M. Reid

Genice M. Reid is an Assistant Principal – Retired.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and two Masters, one in Environmental Health Science and the other in Administration and Supervision. Genice is often involved in various roles/positions that include, mentoring, coaching, advising, consulting, and teaching depending upon the needs of the institutions, staff and people in her sphere of influence.

Joshua D. Reichard

Joshua D. Reichard serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Valley Christian Schools, an urban, multicultural, PreK-12 network of Christian schools in Youngstown, Ohio. Joshua holds a PhD (University of the Western Cape, South Africa) and an EdS in Educational Leadership (Liberty University). He is a state licensed school superintendent in Ohio and a Certified Clinical Sociologist (organizational development and social justice interventions).

Laura Rodriguez

Laura Rodriguez is a former Deputy Chancellor and Regional Superintendent, New York City Department of Education.  After 34 years of service to NYC public school students, she retired from the DOE and currently volunteers her time as an educational advocate supporting teachers, students and families.

Sis Obed Torres-Cordero

Sis Obed Torres-Cordero is presently the Director of Operations of a public Charter School serves as Of Counsel to a law firm.  He is licensed to practice law and has a life-long interest in civil rights and educational systems that impact children from low-income families. Previously, he was an Associate Professor and taught Political Science and International Relations.

Miriam Velez

Miriam Velez is the director of student teaching and an assistant professor in the School of Education Nyack College. Licensed by New York State in Bilingual Education, she has thirty years of experience as both an inner city private and public school instructor. Presently, she serves as the liaison for the college with the New York City Department of Education and the Teacher Performance Assessment Coordinator.

Marie White

Marie White was raised by urban missionary parents who shaped her desire to become an advocate for children who are under-served and under represented. After years of working in the clinical setting, Dr. White joined the Nyack College School of Education as Professor. As an Educational Psychologist, her primary goal is to promote research on help-seeking and self-regulated learning as a means to empower disenfranchised high school graduates who desired to become teachers.
